Pseudomonas Agar for Detection of Fluorescin
Product Description
Product Detail
Pseudomonas Agar for Detection of Fluorescin (USP Standard)
Pseudomonas Agar for Detection of Fluorescin is a specialized microbiological culture medium designed for the isolation and identification of Pseudomonas species, particularly Pseudomonas aeruginosa, in pharmaceutical microbiology laboratories, environmental monitoring programs, and clinical microbiology testing. Many laboratories rely on Pseudomonas Agar for Detection of Fluorescin for bacterial isolation, pathogen identification, water quality testing, and microbiological quality control, because the medium supports reliable detection of fluorescin pigment produced by Pseudomonas strains.
The formulation of Pseudomonas Agar for Detection of Fluorescin contains pancreatic digest of casein and peptic digest of animal tissue, which supply essential carbon sources, nitrogen, amino acids, and growth factors required for microbial growth. The addition of glycerol provides an additional carbon source, while magnesium sulfate promotes the production of characteristic pigments such as pyocyanin and fluorescin, which play an important role in Pseudomonas identification and microbiological diagnostic testing. Dipotassium phosphate stabilizes the pH of the medium, and agar serves as the solidifying agent for bacterial culture and microbial detection assays.
Because Pseudomonas aeruginosa produces fluorescent pigments under suitable culture conditions, Pseudomonas Agar for Detection of Fluorescin helps microbiologists visually identify colonies during laboratory pathogen detection, pharmaceutical microbiology testing, and environmental microbial analysis. This makes the medium widely used in water microbiology testing, pharmaceutical contamination monitoring, and clinical pathogen screening.
Preparation Method
Dissolve 38 g of Pseudomonas Agar for Detection of Fluorescin powder in 1000 ml purified water, add 10 ml glycerol, mix thoroughly, and heat until fully dissolved. Dispense into tubes or flasks and sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes. The prepared medium can be poured into sterile Petri dishes or prepared as agar slants for Pseudomonas culture, pigment detection, and microbiological identification.
